Summer Staff Training

is ten days of basic training for all summer staff, in preparation for July and August's camps. Sessions include instruction on leading tent devotions and firesides, camp counselling, teaching crafts and activities, camp standards, policies, procedures, and familiarty with the camp's facilities and surroundings. This time of training and growing together is important preparation. It develops team spirit and confidence as we head into two months of self-giving service, expressing Christ's love to campers.

High School Leadership (CIT) Camp

is for high schoolers ages 15 and up who are interested in leadership training. The camp is held at Woodsman , our remote wilderness site on Mine Lake. Activities include an introduction to the Counsellor in Training (CIT) Program, Bible study, basic instruction in campcraft, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, overnight outtrips, wide games, firesides, archery, and hiking.

Sailing Camps

are a great opportunity to discover the adventure of sailing. Day on includes basic how-to sailing sessions on land and in the sailboats. On day two we shove off from the Homewood wharf and spend the rest of the time cruising through the Discovery Islands and Desolation Sound, exploring remote coves, secluded lakes, and intriguing shore lines. Each day we sail to a new location, learning the more intricate aspects of sailing. The adventure includes basic navigation, camping ashore each night, hiking to lakes, rivers or waterfalls to cool off from the hot sun, firesides, exploration, sun-tanning, meeting new people, seeing whales, porpoises or other wildlife and discussion about who Jesus Christ is and what He means to us. It will be a week you'll never forget! The Jr. Sailing Camp is for ages 13 - 16, the Sr. Sailing camps are for ages 16 - 20 and the Adult Sailing Camp is for ages 20 - 99 (older campers will be accepted if they have a note from their parent).

Ranch Camp

is based at our harbour site and features--you guessed it--horseback riding and horsemanship. Instruction in riding and horsemanship follow the Homewood riding program, with campers working toward Homewood award levels. A typical day finds participants working on skills in the round corral, learning basic horsemanship and riding on Homewood's numerous trails or under the covered arena in a group lesson. Other activities include waterfront, wide games, firesides, Bible teaching and outtrips.

Wrangler-In-Training (WIT) Camp

is for those interested in becoming Homewood wranglers. Camp wrangling skills will be taught. These include leading trail rides, teaching ground/arena classes, lunging/exercising horses, basics of teaching, dealing with horse problems, and teaching others to ride. Homewood horsemanship levels are not part of W.I.T. camp. Some time will be spent experiencing practical wrangler work - trail maintenance, roundup and saddling, caring for horses/equipment and field and barn upkeep. WIT alumni may be eligible to help out in the riding program during busy fall/winter/spring weekend camps, as needs and skill levels warrant. (Ages 14 to 17, with previous Ranch Camp experience or extensive riding background necessary)

Eager Beaver Camp

is for boys and girls ages 6 to 8. Start these beginner campers with a positive experience that's not too long, not too short. Four days and three nights of go, go, go are just about right for the tykes. Homewood's regular activities (except archery) are included, geared to this age group. Parents bring campers to Homewood on the first day and return for them on the last day (no bus service from the ferry for Eager Beavers).
