Counsellor in Training Program
Homewood's leadership training program for high school youth, the Counsellor in Training (CIT) Program, provides an opportunity for young people to develop leadership qualities in the context of Christian camping. The program begins with CIT camp at our Woodsman site in early July. Following CIT camp, a portion of the campers stay for the full summer program. Both the camp and the full summer program are wonderful opportunities for high school youth interested in leadership training and spiritual growth. The opportunity to closely live, work, learn, serve, and play together in a positive peer group setting is often a life changing experience.

CIT Summer Program
All new CITs must attend the CIT Camp (above). The summer program follows CIT Camp and continues to the last week of August. It consists of two main parts:
1) Work Program - Trainees spend about half their time in work such as kitchen duty, cutting wood, clearing land, landscaping, building projects and camp maintenance. CITs also spend considerable time serving camp guests as well as staff. CITs make a valuable contribution to the running of camps by the work done and also earn their board.
2) Continued leadership training - CITs continue their program of Bible study, instruction in crafts and activities and other aspects of leadership training throughout the summer. Direct involvement in the camping program is at the discretion of camp administration.
Returning CITs
Returning CITs have a greater involvement with children's camps during their second year in the CIT Program. They often work along side senior summer staff as assistant counsellors and activity instructors. During these eight day camps they live in tents or cabins with the senior staff and campers.
Re-application forms for returning CITs should be sent in early. The number of returning CITs may be limited.
