Camp Homewood was founded in 1944 as the Pacific Coast Children’s Mission. As such we have always operated as a mission. We do not have large corporate sponsors. The camp is able to operate through the donations of people all over Canada and beyond who believe that the ministry here is God’s work and therefore worth supporting. The funds available from the camper fees do not cover all the operating costs of Homewood.
Many years ago Homewood made a decision that we will strive to always operate debt free. Any projects we undertake are funded by interested individuals who partner with us in this ministry. If you would like to help us by way of a financial donation here are a few areas in which we could use your help:
- Full-time staff support: Our fulltime staff are all supported by their home churches and/or interested family and friends. If you are interested in supporting any of our staff please let us know.
- Bursary fund: Every year we have 45-50 college age students volunteering at the camp for the summer. In fall many of them go back to post secondary schooling. We offer a small bursary for them to help with their expenses. Our goal it to be able to give them much more so that a larger portion of their schooling could be covered.
- Campership: There are children who would love to come to camp but just can’t raise the fees. We try to offer what assistance we can to these young people.
- Wish/need list-(items needed in the next year or so) prices will be added as we get the estimates. ( This list was updated Aug 21, 2010 )
- Electrical upgrade of 2 of the staff homes
- New flooring for the Rivendell Lodge washrooms
- New carpet in Rivendell Lodge- main room, rockroom, large bedrooms downstairs etc
- Tractor- overhaul or upgrade
- New windows for several of the staff homes
- Updated playground
